We will meet for the New Denver Lantern Parade on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 4:45 pm at the entrance to the Kohan Reflection Garden. We will continue through the Kohan garden which is illuminated with Christmas lights. Marching around the Pavilion so the residents can see all the beautiful lanterns and share in the celebration.

Show it off!
We will carry our lanterns through the Orchard, across the bridge and down Slocan Avenue to the Bosun Hall. All are welcome to start with us at the Kohan or join in along the way.

Display it and warm by the bonfire.
Once we arrive at the Bosun Hall, there will be an area to park your lantern outside. Prizes will be awarded after the festival to 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners from the People’s Choice ballot.
We will have bonfires by the lantern displays outside the Bosun Hall from 6 pm - 8 pm. Refreshments will be available for purchase. (Cash only please!)

Slocan Valley Community Band 5:30 - 6:00 pm
The Band plays everything from pop medleys to Disney show tunes to soul music... even the Charleston! And as a special treat, the band will be playing Noel Fudge's "Sparks in the Dark" composition, to be sung as a round.
This beloved community band draws musicians of all ages and ability levels from the length of the Slocan Valley and has been playing together for more than 40 years - a true community institution. Join us for some lively, upbeat band music that will appeal to all ages.

Freya & Friends - 6:00 - 8:00 pm
Freya is a professional violin/guitar duo from the West Kootenays that plays a diverse repertoire of original compositions & popular music with a twist. Freya & friends will play after the Community Band until the end of the festival around 8 pm.
Don’t forget to donate generously to the Red Guitar Donation box at the entrance to the hall!
NEW Denver Lantern Festival Parade route
Starting time 4:45 pm at the entrance to the Kohan Reflection Garden.
We will parade through the Kohan which will be illuminated with Christmas lights. Continuing around the Pavilion so the residents can see all our beautiful creations. The New Denver Fire Department will then lead us through the Orchard, across the bridge at Carpenter Creek, down Slocan Avenue and on to Bosun’s Hall for music, dancing, refreshments (cash only please), a bonfire and celebration until around 8:00 pm.
The Menu features treats from Mama’s Kitchen, The Goat Mountain Kid’s Society inside the Bosun Hall and the Lucerne Grads outside the Hall after the Spark in the Dark Lantern Parade.
Please don’t forget to bring cash only for payment.
